Why Trump For Prison?

During 2016 Presidential Election, I was shocked that presidential candidate Donald Trump would invoke chants of "lock her up" targeted at Hillary Clinton during his campaign events.

Unpresidential behavior. Throughout the election, Donald Trump debased his political opponents, Democrats and Republicans alike, and anyone else who questioned him. I watched him denigrate and disrespect public servants, immigrants, women, businesspeople, Muslims, blacks, Latinos, the disabled, religious leaders, veterans, and countless others.

A form of protest. After the inauguration, I created a political anti-Trump meme based on the "Hillary For Prison" signs that Donald Trump inspired amongst his supporters. This political meme caught fire on social media and “Trump For Prison” was born.

An illegitimate president? During Barack Obama's presidency, Donald Trump repeatedly and relentlessly questioned our president's American nationality and his legitimacy as president. Despite the provision of undisputable evidence in Barack Obama's long-form birth certificate, Donald Trump continued populating this lie until the last year of his presidency. Donald Trump set the precedent of disputing the validity of a sitting president, without a modicum of evidence. The tides have shifted and now it is Donald Trump who must face the scales of justice.

Donald Trump's connections to Russia must be investigated. Donald Trump attacks the media as a smokescreen to distract from his background. Following inquiries into the pro-Russia relationships of Donald Trump's Campaign Chief Paul Manafort stepped down from his role. Donald Trump's National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, resigned after it was proven that he lied about having contact with a Russian Ambassador. Trump's Attorney General Jeff Sessions was proven to have been in contact with a Russian Ambassador, despite declaring the opposite during his nomination hearing. As a result, the US Attorney General has recused himself from inquiries into Russian involvement with the Trump campaign. These incidences are likely the tip of the iceberg of Russian involvement within Trump's network.

Donald Trump is an admitted sexual assailant. During the 2016 presidential election, a hot mic recording of Donald Trump speaking to Billy Bush of Access Hollywood was released by The Washington Post where he described committing sexual assault. He stated, "I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it, you can do anything ... grab them by the pussy". 15 women have accused Donald Trump of sexual assault or inappropriate contact. The behavior he himself describes committing is a crime punishable by jail time.

Donald Trump breaks his campaign promises. The current administration is actively instituting policies that work against the voting bloc of Americans that brought Donald Trump into office. During the first 30 days of his time in office, Donald Trump had already broken dozens of campaign promises. He must be held accountable.

"Trump For Prison" is a movement. We will not allow potential crimes against our country to go unanswered. We are committed to keeping a spotlight on Donald Trump and will fight against his illegal actions.

We’re Americans and Americans step up. We are taking it to the street. We won’t sit around and let a criminal systematically undermine and break down the basic tenets of our democracy.

United we stand, divided we fall. We will stand up and protect the foundation that America is built upon—the foundation that our forefathers fled to and fought for. We are brave enough to wear a t-shirt and put up a yard sign telling our fellow citizens how we feel. It isn’t always easy but democracy isn’t negotiable and we need to stand up for what we believe. We love this country and will defend its core principles.

This is what Democracy looks like. Us.
