Tweet Attack!

.@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!

This is another typical Tweet where you can see everything wrong with Trump in just a few sentences.

First, there’s

.@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN,

The period before the @ symbol is obviously because his sausage-like fingers hit the period at the same time, and he didn’t care to proof read it. As the most powerful person on planet Earth, there’s no question he could have used a laptop, a desktop, or dictated it. But…he didn’t.

Then,

is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN,

Not true. Important to him, sure, and by that circular reasoning, it is influential, but objectively, over three million people watch Hannity every night—but a million more watch Chris Hardwick talk about a fictional apocalypse in The Talking Dead, but at least it’s twice as many viewers as John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight. So, everything’s relative.

He goes on,

but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly.

Trump finds a way to insult CNN while saying how important they are. There’s a book aimed at the parents of teenagers called, Get Out of My Life, but First Could You Drive Me & Cheryl to the Mall. That’s pretty much what he just did. If he was better at it, it’d be called “gaslighting.”

He concludes,

The outside world does not see the truth from them!

Trump talking about “the outside world” is kind of funny. I know he means countries that use the metric system, but “the outside world” makes it seem like he’s talking about prison, a farm, or that everywhere outside the U.S. is somehow a lost tribe of the Amazon rainforest. I mean, he could have used the phrase sardonically…but I doubt it.

Finally, just to acknowledge it, CNN’s own response was pitch perfect: it’s Trump’s job to represent the United States, and their job to report the news. Because unlike Fox News, CNN is not state-run media.
