No Need To Lie If You Didn't Do Anything Wrong

Posted by Anony Mous on

The Mueller Report and a summary of the Mueller report are two very different things. I come from the old school—if you didn't do anything wrong, there is no reason to lie. For the following lies, I believe we haven’t received an accurate summary from Attorney General Barr. The 4 page summary released today are Barr's conclusions, not Robert Mueller’s work of 2 years.

Trump’s Looting of America

Posted by Gail Barth on

For over two years now Donald Trump, whose Russian connection may be in doubt but whose incompetence isn’t, has been rapidly and systematically taking things away from the American people like a reverse Santa Claus on speed. Every time I let down my guard for even a second, I find that yet another freedom, security or symbol of what it means to be an American has been stripped away. And while sometimes Trump’s thievery is very noisy and public, at other times he does it quietly and closer to the vest, like the miser counting out his ill gotten gains by dim candlelight. And while I really can’t speak for my fellow Americans, I can personally attest to the fact that his maniacal insistence on ripping the rug out from under us is robbing something from virtually every facet of my life.

Trump’s Legacy: Eating Jello with a Fork

Posted by Gail Barth on

Have you ever tried to eat Jello with a fork? Tonight was my first attempt and it’s not easy. All of our spoons were dirty, and I was too lazy to wash one (bear with me, this is going somewhere, I promise). Anyway, so I ate the Jello with a fork; it was a hell of a lot of work to get through the whole bowl, but I made it work. And I should probably add here that it was plenty messy.

Trump’s Report Cards

Posted by Gail Barth on

One of the many interesting tidbits provided by Trump’s so-called fixer and former attorney Michael Cohen is his claim that Trump instructed him some years back to contact all of the schools Trump attended and threaten them with everything up to and including jail time if they released any of his transcripts to anyone. This, of course, is interesting in light of Trump’s mocking President Obama in 2011 for not releasing his academic records, calling him a ‘terrible student.’  In his testimony, Cohen said, “The irony was not lost on me.” Fordham University and New York Military Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., have both confirmed receipt of those letters, pointing out that releasing anyone’s transcripts would always be strictly forbidden, and threatening letters were not necessary.  So we don’t have that information on Trump or any of his earlier records. Or do we...

Trump, We Owe You Nothing!

Posted by Gail Barth on

Donald Trump seems to feel that we owe him something, most especially respect. And he feels compelled to demand it, or whine about the lack of it, while he toilet-tweets with his pants around his ankles. Although it’s clearly an obsession with him, I don’t think the majority of Americans—or anyone else in the world—will ever roll over for him on this one.

Radical “Conservatives”

Posted by Rob Mania on

The word “conservative” implies an aversion to affecting other people. You take small steps, or even no steps, in increasing how government interferes with your business or even personal life. If you’ve conservatively dressed, you wear an outfit that doesn’t call attention to itself. If you’re conservative at a sport, you’re willing to make more small shots rather than risk one big swing.

Hey, Rest of the World...We’re Sorry!

Posted by Gail Barth on

I don’t know about you, but I find myself apologizing constantly. At least, when I go out of the country. I didn’t vote for the abomination that sits in the Oval Office, nor have I supported him or anything he stands for since his unfortunate and likely illegal election to Office. But I still feel responsible and remorseful and slightly dirty just by virtue of being an American.

The Real Enemy of the People

Posted by Gail Barth on

One of Trump’s many asinine tweets today sang a familiar song: @realDonaldTrump: THE RIGGED AND CORRUPT MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! It has undoubtedly been pointed out already that the phrase ‘enemy of the people’ has a long and tragic history. It’s a phrase that has been wielded by, or in the name of, some of the worst tyrants in history. It is still thrown out at perceived enemies by current dictators. Indeed, the only unprecedented thing about these words is that they have never before been uttered by an American president at anyone, including the members of the press. And they’re dan

Is Trump Smarter than a Three-Year-old? (Spoiler Alert: Nope)

Posted by Gail Barth on

My grandson is three and currently learning the Pledge of Allegiance. On one of the first run throughs, we got “and to the republic for which it stands and two golden gods and one nation under God.” A touch later, it was “and one nation and the baseball, under God for all,” the last word said with dramatic flourish. Pretty sure it’s the word ‘indivisible’ that was tripping him up (mostly). But even with these word stumbles, I’m almost certain that he knows more about the Pledge than the current president. In fact, I would put little Charlie’s knowledge of all things American up against Trump’s any day. And the result would be what I would expect: that Trump is not smarter than a three-year-old. In the area of American history or basically anything else that really matters, including basic morality. And wow, is that a sad commentary on where we are as a nation.

Yes, Ann Coulter, We Do Need Immigrants

Posted by Samuel O’Brient on

This past week, Bill Maher drew negative press from the far left when he booked far right pundit, Ann Coulter, as a guest on his show. I was hardly surprised by this; Maher is controversial enough on his own and his long history of giving a platform to conservatives hasn’t sat well with anyone too far left of the center, despite the consistent trend of such speakers making complete fools of themselves in front of an audience that doesn’t watch Fox News. Coulter is one of the most outspoken critics of the American left, as is evidenced by the titles of her books such as, If Democrats Had Any Brains They’d Be Republicans? That said, lately she’s had some strong opinions on our joke of a President--particularly where immigration and his proposed wall is concerned.
